Talk about when you had problems with your credit card.

 

• be rejected: (승인이) 거부되다
• max out a credit card: 카드 한도를 초과하다
• charge something to a card: 신용카드로 결제하다
• swipe a card: 카드를 긁다
• customer support center: 고객 지원 센터
• have something reissued: ~을 재발급받다
• turn out one's pockets: 호주머니에서 소지품을 모두 꺼내다
• for the life of one: 무슨 수를 써도, 도저시
• report something lost: 분실 신고를 하다
• be billed automatically: 자동으로 청구되다

The store employee told me that I had maxed out my credit card.

상점 직원이 한도가 초과되었다고 말해 줬다.

 

I had to call the card company's customer support center and have the card reissued.

카드사 고객 센터에 전화해서 카드를 재발급받아야 했다.

5형식 동사 have는 목적어와 목적격 보어의 관계에 따라 목적격 보어의 형태가 달라집니다. 능동관계이면 동사원형으로, 수동관계이면 p.p형태로 오게 됩니다. 여기에서 카드는 재발급'되'는, 즉, 수동의 관계이기 때문에 reissue가 p.p형태로 reissued로 오게 됩니다.

 

I turned out my pockets and searched everywhere, but I couldn't find it for the life of me.

주머니를 뒤지고 여기저기를 다 찾아봤는데, 아무리 찾아봐도 도저히 찾을 수가 없었다.
