• object of someone's affection: ~가 좋아하는 사람
• crush on: ~를 짝사랑하다
• down and out: 낙담하는
• take a liking to: ~를 좋아하게 되다
• go steady with: ~와 사귀다
• reach a breaking point: 한계점에 이르다
• feel like the world is coming to an end: 세상이 무너지는 것 같다
• lose one's drive: 의욕을 잃다
• heal over: 아물다
• gut-wrenching: 괴로운

좋아하는 사람에게 잘해 주기 위해 특별히 노력하기도 한다.

 

If the person you like takes a liking to someone else, or if they are going steady with someone else already, the pain reaches a breaking point.

좋아하는 상대방이 다른 사람에게 관심이 있거나 다른 사람을 이미 만나고 있는 경우, 마음의 상처는 극에 달하게 된다.

the person과 you like 사이에 목적격 관계대명사 who(m)이 생략되어 있습니다. 따라서 단수 the person에 맞추어 동사가 단수 형태인 takes가 옵니다.

 

However, at the time, they are the most gut-wrenching moments of one's life.

그러나 그 당시에는 인생에서 가장 마음 아픈 순간들이라고 해도 과언이 아니다.

 

He's still carrying the torch for her.
