Upon close inspection, it turned out to be a friend from college.

자세히 보니, 예전 대학교 때 친구였다.

it turned out to be: (알고보니) ~ 였다.

 

By coincidence, my friend was working at the same company as a close acquaintance of mine.

때마침 가까운 지인이 일하는 회사에 그 친구도 근무하고 있었다.

By coincidence = By chance   우연히

 

It was a kick to bump into an old friend from school.

우연히 옛 학교 친구를 만나니 기분이 들떴다.
