• take half the time: 시간이 절반 걸리다
• cost a lot less: 비용이 훨씬 덜 들다
• low-cost carrier: 저가 항공사
• cost half the price: 비용이 절반 들다
• rely on paper maps: 종이 지도에 의존하다
• travel from one place to another: 한 곳에서 다른 곳으로 이동하다
• advancements in transportation: 교통의 발달

It takes half the time to get somewhere on trains now.

이제 기차로 어딘가를 가는 데 소요 시간이 절반밖에 들지 않는다.

 

Thanks to low-cost carriers, plane tickets have become much cheaper.

저가 항공사 덕분에 항공권이 훨씬 더 저렴해졌다.

이 문장의 much는 뒤에 오는 비교급 cheaper를 강조하는 역할입니다. 비교급을 강조할 때 very나 more을 사용하지 않는다는 것 기억하세요!

 

Some flights only cost half the price compared to the past.

예전에 비해서 어떤 항공편은 비용이 절반밖에 되지 않는다.

compared to는 '~와 비교하여' 라는 의미입니다.
