Talk about the typical housing culture in Korea.

• stand-alone house: 단독 주택
• shared living space: 공동 거주 공간
• group together: 한곳에 모으다
• go barefoot: 맨발로 다니다
• heated floor: 온돌바닥
• drain out: (물, 액체 등이) 흘러나가다
• hose down: 물을 뿌려 청소하다
• lose one's footing: 발을 헛디디다
• potted plant: 화분
• be in possession of: ~을 소유 중이다
• underground floor: 지하층

In major Korean cities where the population density is high, apartments far outnumber stand-alone houses.

인구 밀도가 높은 한국 대도시에는 단독 주택보다 아파트의 비중이 훨씬 높다.

 

It's convenient for hosing down the bathroom, but sometimes people lose their footing and fall.

물을 뿌려 청소하기에 편리하지만, 화장실에서 미끄러져 넘어지는 사고가 발생하기도 한다.

 

Most households are in possession of at least one car, so apartment buildings have several underground floors for parking.

차량을 최소 한 대 소유하고 있는 가구가 대부분이어서, 아파트들은 여러 층의 지하 주차장을 갖추고 있다.
