However, oversupply in the market, in tandem with concerns over an economic slump, meant the predictions missed the mark.

그러나 원유 시장에선 되레 공급 과잉과 경기 침체 우려가 겹치며 유가 상승 전망은 완전히 빗나갔다.

 

Russia is not a member of OPEC, and its total output of oil was reaching record highs, stocking fears of oversupply.

석유 수출국 기구(OPEC) 비회원국인 러시아의 산유량이 사상 최고치에 근접하고 있는 점이 공급 과잉 우려를 부추겼다.

 

In response, Saudi Arabia, the top dog of OPEC, has been demanding reduced crude oil production.

이에 대해 OPEC를 이끌고 있는 사우디 아라비아는 원유 감산 요구를 해 오고 있다.
